Pentatonix Tour 2023 Usa – Ptatonics (pronounced PTX) is an American a cappella group from Arlington, Texas, consisting of singers Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Matt Sully, and Kevin Olusola. In his pop style arranged with vocal harmonies, bass lines, riffing, percussion and drumming, he creates covers of modern pop works or Christmas carols, sometimes in the form of mixes, as well as originals. Ptatonix formed in 2011 and won the third season of NBC’s The Sing-Off, receiving $200,000 and a record deal with Sony Music.

Their first EP PTX, Vol. 1 was released in 2012, the same year as their PTXmas holiday release, and Ptatonix’s third release, PTX, Vol. II, peak at No. 1 on the Billboard Independent Albums Chart and at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 in 2013.
That same year, the group released their fourth EP, PTX, Vol. III, and two full-length studio albums; PTX, Vol. 1 and 2, the best-selling album in Korea and Australia, and the best-selling American holiday album (it was the best-selling album in the United States in 1962 and the fourth best-selling album in the United States in 2014).

For a local radio show competition to meet the cast of Glee, he arranged and performed three versions of “Telephone,” Lady Gaga’s hit song with Beyoncé. Although he won the competition, his singing sparked interest in his school and he began performing. His “Telephone” version eventually became popular on YouTube.

Hoying and Maldonado both graduated from Martin High School in 2010, Grassi in 2011. Hoying attended the University of Southern California (USC) to earn a degree in popular music performance, while Maldonado pursued a degree in musical theater at the University of Oklahoma.

While at USC, Scott Hoying joined an a cappella group called the SoCal VoCals. He learned about The Sing-Off from another member of the group, B Bram (their organiser, producer and sound engineer) and was determined to watch the film.
He asked Maldonado and Grassi to join him, but Bram suggested having a bass player and a drummer to support the band.
Through mutual friends, Hoying met Avi Kaplan (born April 17, 1989), a popular vocal bassist in the a cappella community. First, the trio discovered Kevin Olusola (born October 5, 1988) on YouTube, where a video of him boxing and playing the cello at the same time (called “celloboxing”) went viral. Olusola was born in Osboro, Ktuki and completed his pre-med at Yale University.

The team’s performance was well evaluated and they managed to win the title in 2011 (three times).
Ptatonics is named after the patatonic arrangement, a musical arrangement or method that blocks five groups with five notes per octave, as suggested by Scott Hoying.

Scott Hoying and Kirsty Maldonado dropped out of college hoping to win The Sing-Off, and Mitch Grassi didn’t graduate high school to watch the show.
After winning, the group all moved to Los Angeles so they could pursue careers as recording artists.

Ptatonix also embarked on their first major city tour in the fall of 2012. The tour was sold out and included 30 cities.
The band released their Christmas EP, PTXmas, on November 13, 2012. The band released their video for the first version of “Carol of the Bells” the following day. On November 18, the band performed at the “Coca-Cola Red Carpet Live! @ The American Music Awards 2012” pre-show, the Hollywood Christmas Parade, and on December 16 at “94.7 The Wave Christmas Concert with Dave Koz & Nye Loggins”.
