Although the world has changed since then, the fans’ desire has not been expressed. Styx and REO Speedwagon are telling you to close those laptops and ditch your sweatpants because they’re ready to bring their rock & roll classics to the masses once again, this time with special guest Loverboy on a “Live & Unzoomed” tour playing Pine Knob Music Theater on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 6:45 p.m. do Pine Knob Musical Theater is presented by Proud Partners United Wholesale Mortgage, Trinity Health and Alley.

A new era of hope, survival and prosperity comes with the release of Styx’s new “masterpiece” studio album Crash of the Crown, written before the pandemic and recorded during the difficult times of the pandemic. Formed in 1967, signed in 1971, and fronted by legendary vocalist Kevin Cronin since 1972, REO Speedwagon’s relentless drive, as well as relentless touring and recording, has fueled the burgeoning rock movement in the Midwest since its inception. Platinum albums and radio stations soon followed, setting the scene for the band’s explosive release of HI Infidelity in 1980, which included the smash hit singles “Keep On Loving You” and “Take It On The Run.” The landmark album spent 15 weeks at number one and earned the RIAA’s prestigious 10X Diamond Award for sales of 10 million copies in the United States.
From 1977 to 1989, REO Speedwagon released nine consecutive albums certified platinum or higher. Today, REO Speedwagon has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, and Cronin and his bandmates Bruce Hall (bass), Neil Doughty (keyboards), Dave Amato (guitar) and Bryan Hitt (drums) continue to electrify audiences around the world in concert. REO stayed busy during the Speedwagon epidemic before the band hit the road again. As of April 2020, Cronin started a webcast series called “Songs & Stories Camp Cronin” from his home. The series ran for 24 episodes, featuring anecdotes and voice-overs by him and his family. For the past 16 months, Cronin and members of REO have been St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital to participate. Jude, Marilou and Mark Hamill’s USC McMorrow Neighborhood Academic Initiative, John Oates’ “Oates Song Fest,” “Stars to the Rescue,” Acoustic-4-A-Cure and more. In addition, Cronin began keeping a diary of the band’s UK tour in 2016, he has never stopped writing and recently posted what appears to be his life story as well as recounting the history of REO Speedwagon. He says: “Publishing an autobiography is dangerous. Once it’s out, there’s nowhere to hide!” More information about his autobiography will be released soon.
For more than 40 years, Loverboy “Working for the Weekend” (and Weekends) has been delighting audiences around the world since its founding in 1979, when singer Mike Reno was introduced on guitar, Paul Dean – both veterans of various bands. On the Canadian stage – at Calgary’s Refinery Nightclub. Along with Reno and Dean, Loverboy still features original members Doug Johnson on keyboards and Matt Frenette on drums, with Ken “Spider” Sinnao replacing the late Scott Smith on bass.
