Toolkit guitarist Adam Jones has revealed what the band will be playing on their upcoming new tour, the second leg of the Fear Inoculum European Tour. It looks like the band will be playing some old school material from their catalog.

Formed in 1990, Tool is a rock band that has been on stage for over 32 years. Tool debuted in 1993 with the band’s beloved Undertow and released their fifth and final studio album, Fear Inoculum, in 2019 to rave reviews from the rock community. Although the band has released five studio albums at the time of writing, they have a large fan base worldwide.

The band has won four different Grammy Awards during their career. Ænema was awarded first in the Best Metal Performance category in 1998, while the band was awarded the second prize in 2002 with Schism in the same category. In 2007, the Grammy Awards industry honored the band with the Best Recording Package of 10,000 Days. The last and fourth award was from the 2020 7empest just like the first two.
Over the years, Tool has performed numerous live shows around the world. The band headlined popular festivals such as Download, Voodoo Fest, Coachella, Lollapalooza, Roskilde and more. In addition to their festival shows, Tool continues to dazzle their fans with massive tours across North America, Europe and beyond. Additionally, Tool has been gearing up to entertain their fans in the UK for some time now.
The band’s guitarist Adam Jones recently appeared on Metal Hammer to discuss which instrument will be played at their upcoming show. Asked by an interviewer how he would prepare the set list for the new tour, the guitarist explained how he wanted to break the routine. He said the band would play old songs and it would be great.

“Well, you always want to do something you haven’t done in a long time,” Adam says. “You always want to break the routine, make it more interesting for you, and there’s a lot of negotiation involved, but ultimately it comes down to Maynard.
“If I’m sick and I have a 100 degree fever, I’m sick, I have the flu, I can still play, but for Maynard, he won’t be able to sing. So we give him the last word so he can do the show if he’s not well.
“But this set is pretty incredible, we’re doing old school stuff and we’re very happy with it, some old and some new. It should be good.”

Adam Jones then talked about his feelings about playing the old stuff. When the interviewer got to the point where things got exciting, the guitarist said that all the members of the tool feed off each other.
“Yes, it’s a tool,” he added. “Anything we do, we have to go a certain way, you know?
“So, it’s great: we have such a strong connection that we click and we really feed off each other, so when we play something that we haven’t all played together for a long time, it’s an unexpected way and usually something very rewarding out there. turns

He also shared his thoughts on Tool fans who have been waiting for a long time for a live show. When asked if he feels the weight of this expectation, Adam said, “It feels heavy at first, but it soon wears off.”

“In my way I’ll go on tour every six months, it’s a great bond with our fans and it’s very rewarding. Every night is like climbing to the top of a mountain and then coming back down.
Maynard James Keenan, the band’s vocalist, admitted in a February interview that he was never satisfied with his live performances with Tool. Keenan revealed his good mood for fans of his band Tool and also said that he needs to sing a lot better for their fans.
“People want to be entertained; They have to be moved somehow,” he explained. “And I think, depending on your agenda, for people like me, I just have to do something and do it right. And I’m never satisfied with how I did; I think I can do better.”

On the other hand, Maynard James Keenan, who thinks people expect him to, added: “So when you get into that mindset, you’re always trying to improve on whatever you did, even if it was the night before and you’re doing it ten Done a thousand times, there’s always room for improvement – and room for customization.

Tool’s career began in the early 1990s with the release of their debut album Undertow. The album’s raw energy and thought-provoking lyrics brought a new progressive metal genre to listeners. “I’m happy that we have loyal fans and that people can come and see what we’re doing and appreciate it. The four of us want to put on a great show and we want people to go out and really feel like they’re getting their money’s worth. Got it, and let’s let them forget the bad world for two hours and just have a good time.
That’s what we do. I’m very lucky to have it, but the bottom line is just doing something that we’re highly rewarded for and then sharing it. I’m glad people are into it, you know? There are a lot of people who understand what we do and a lot of people who don’t understand what we do.

We upgraded the show. We haven’t played in every market and we want people to see what we’re doing. We might pull out some of the old stuff and adjust our set list and beat a bit. And we have some new visuals that are really cool.
I think with age you find ways to sing that thing where it doesn’t hurt. You can recreate it without the emotional and literal scabs of hurting yourself. I think my writing has changed over the years and I can do some of these songs. I can’t do a complete set of these songs. I can still do these things because I can pepper them, but you can’t… If you really sit down and think, you can’t expect some of these people to do what they do. Done… 30 years ago, 40 years ago. You cannot expect this from this body. Your body doesn’t do these things forever.
